On Sunday, September 20, 2026, the National Day of Remembrance for the Genocide of the Greeks of Asia Minor by the Turkish State was commemorated in Athens.
The Association of Kato Panagia (Asia Minor) participated in the commemorative events organized by the Federation of Refugee Associations of Greece (OPSE), alongside numerous Asia Minor associations and refugee organizations.
The presence of our Association at the wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier was particularly symbolic; young Ilias Iakovos Karamanis laid the wreath on behalf of the Kato Panagia Association.
The presence of a child on a day dedicated to the memory of our ancestors holds special significance. The history of Kato Panagia and its people does not belong solely to the past; it is passed down from generation to generation and continues to live on through our children and grandchildren.
Out of respect for the people who lived and perished in the Unforgotten Homelands, the Kato Panagia Association continues to keep the memory and history of our place alive.
